Welcome to Domestic Ingenuity!

My blog originally helped me display cupcakes and cakes online for clients around town. However, after too many sunny days spent cooped up in my kitchen decorating cakes for weekend events, I decided to change paths. Soon my posts were filled with other dessert recipes, which snowballed into  healthy dinner recipes and finally my crafting, diy’ing and thrifting side ruthlessly took over. This blog is full of random  creations in no apparent order… just like my everyday life.

As a mom to a very busy little boy, I am finding joy in more aspects of my life than I ever imagined. I work part time with children with special needs a couple days a week but the rest of my time is spent as a stay at home mom. My desire isn’t to become a YouTube sensation, I’m not a culinary expert, I am far from a pastry chef, I’m learning as I go about being a mom and I’ve accepted that I may not become the next Martha Stewart. However I do know one thing… I am a DIY-ing, crafting, thrifting, baking, sewing, cooking, deal-loving gal with too much energy and a love for creating.

Some call me cheap…. I call me frugal.  If I can’t justify the cost I’ll Chels-ify the idea.  It’s not that I have a hard time spending money (I could probably empty my life savings at a garage sale)  it’s just that I have a hard time spending money on something that I could probably make myself for less.  Key in on the word probably, because many projects I have chalked up to being casualties all while being covered in batter, craft glue or paint. But by then it’s usually a good story. So if somewhere on this blog I was able to share something that made you’re life a little easier or a laugh that made your day a little happier than I’m exactly where I need to be.

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep. ~ Scott Adams
