DIY Nursing Cover

For the past year I have been faithfully posting every second day on my blog which has been a big commitment that I’m quite proud of! However with only 14 more days left until my due date, I’m officially feeling the weight (literally) of pregnancy. Continue reading

DIY Adjustable Crib Skirt

IMG_3722 - Copy

My next diy nursery project as my adjustable crib skirt. Oh little crib…… how I love looking at you knowing that in 5 short weeks you will be where my little one falls asleep….

When I was only 8 weeks pregnant, I was curious how much a crib cost so I started looking at stores and realized there was no way I was spending over $400 on a miniature size piece of furniture. So I started looking online at second hand cribs when I came across a beautiful white one for only $70.00! Continue reading

DIY Glider Chair Cover

It’s the weekend!! I’m not gonna lie…. it’s a little cloudy outside, my hubby is busy working on the garage and I am happily lounging in my pajama’s sipping some cold iced tea!

My next nursery project reveal is the glider chair that we recovered. Continue reading

DIY Bow Tie Bunting

Hey everyone! I hope that you are having a great weekend…. or a great long weekend for us Canadians! Even though every day is technically the weekend for me (I’m not working this summer) I still get super excited for the weekends because that means some much-needed time with my hubby. Ever since we demolished our garage he’s been working like crazy. So most nights/weekends he’s outside with power tools sweating in the hot sun. But this weekend he’s taking a break from it all. We got free tickets through his work to the big beach festival in town. Although it’s mostly young people who are there to party…… I still march my big prego bump through the gates of sweaty intoxicated people to enjoy the professional dirt bike competition during the day and the concerts at night. What can I say?! I can’t resist extreme sports, good music and those dang Mini Donuts.

Anyways, since it’s a cloudy day today, before I head outside to do some gardening and yardwork I thought I’d share the next DIY  project from our nursery. Continue reading

DIY Whale Mobile

This was one of my favorite diy crafts that I made for our nursery….. oh who am I kidding. I loved all the crafting that went into this lil’ babes room. Our crib was thrifted at only $70.00 which was such a steal but it just seemed naked without a mobile.

Instead of buying a mobile I figured I’d attempt to make my own.  Continue reading

DIY Stuffed Animal

It’s diy’s like these that leave me wondering if I’m 27 years old or 87 years old. Who sews stuffed animals anymore?! My justification is that it’s a mixture of my summer holidays, no work, and the nesting stage that leaves me wanting every last detail taken care of. Either that or I need to be checking myself into knitting classes and seniors dances pretty soon.

DIY Lace Cuffs

Well here we are in the new year. Now that we have all survived the end of the world and New Years Eve, it’s safe to say we are good for a while. I feel like I have finally caught up on my sleep from a few late nights and I feel great! Four more days till I go back to work. So I’m going to relax, read, and work out. As a regular gym member, I gotta say that I’m a little apprehensive about going to the gym today. I went all last week but the first week of January can be a little hectic. I swear when the doors open to the gym you’d think it was Black Friday at Walmart. Anyways, on boxing day I purchased a super cute pair of brown boots…on sale of course! I love the casual look of brown boots because they pull together so many different looks. Bohemian, hipster, vintage, dressy casual….and the list goes on. I know it’s a little too cold to go bare-legged in boots this time of year but I am prepared for the first warm day. I was inspired by the look of lace tights that are all the rage right now so I wanted to make a summer equivalent. So once the warm weather comes I thought lace boot cuffs would be super cute. They were so easy to make and inexpensive. I made two pairs (with fabric left over) for under $5.00! And it took me less than 3 minutes to make two pairs. Hope you like it!!

You will need:

  • measuring tape
  • stretchy wide lace
  • scissors
  • sewing machine or serger (you could sew by hand if you needed to)
  • buttons (optional)

Step 1. Measure around your calf. Subtract one inch and cut that length from your lace.

Step 2. Fold the fabric in half right sides facing in. Sew along edge.

Step 3. Turn cuffs right side out and you should have tube shaped cuffs.

I made two pairs of these cuffs. A white pair with no buttons and an off-white pair with three little buttons. I absolutely love the look of the peek-a-boo of lace. I’m also going to make a black pair that I can wear over my skinny jeans with my black boots. Of the possibilities. I hope you like your creation and if you have any questions let me know!

These boots have stood toe-to-toe with the biggest baddest joes. Like they had some things to prove. These boots
