It was my older brother’s birthday a couple weeks ago so we threw him a somewhat surprise BBQ at our place. My brother to me has always fit the stereotypical image of a manly man. He likes to dirt bike, camp, fish, hunt, shoot guns, drink beer and eat. So I was super excited to host a night where he could hang out with his buddies, have a few drinks, smoke cigars and enjoy some manly food!
It must run in the family because my brother and I both LOVE to eat! So on the menu for his birthday we had ceasar salad, corn on the cob, burgers, steaks, garlic bread and his favorite appetizer…. Buffalo Chicken Dip.

But dessert wasn’t so easy. I decided on birthday cupcakes instead of cake because they are much easier to serve at a BBQ. But since my brother doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth…. I really had to think outside the box for what to make him. Then it dawned on me….. he loves breakfast food. So I made Cinnamon French Toast cupcakes. I just made a simple vanilla cupcake batter, adding cream, nutmeg, cinnamon and all spice and surprisingly it tasted just like french toast! For the frosting I made maple buttercream and then topped each cupcake with crunchy caramelized maple bacon. I wasn’t entirely sure if savory/sweet cupcakes would be a hit or miss but judging by the groans and empty cupcake plate…. I take it they liked them. Not to mention that most of the guys somehow ate them in less than three bites.  And of course a cupcake wouldn’t be manly enough without a camouflage cupcake liner. So here’s my definition of the ultimate alpha male cupcake!

  1. I’m not much of a baker. Do you have in depth instructions? Would love to make them!
