——creativity never goes out of style——

I’m so crafty….

I am officially finished work for the summer holidays and I couldn’t be any more excited! Goodbye stuffy lunch rooms…. so long playground accidents….. bye for now crowded hallways… au revoir staff meetings and hello sunny afternoons, cold ice tea and a good book! I am so excited to spend time this summer relaxing.

That may not seem very challenging for some of you…. but for those that know me….. I am not very good at sitting back and kicking my feet up. I’ve always got a project on the go or some kind of to-do list. But this summer I have a different perspective and set of goals for my time off. Above all else….. I want quality me-time. This is my last summer before we have a family and I as awful as it sounds I plan on being a little selfish and enjoying it. I am so blessed because my hubby is so supportive and has told me that I deserve this summer to just have time for myself. Even though I had last summer off… we had just moved into our house and both our siblings were getting married. So my summer was gone before I knew it. Painting, renovations, unpacking, organizing, gardening, mowing, weeding, planting, cooking, baking, wedding planning, organizing, decorating and then trying to fit in some fun. So this summer I’m saying goodbye to the pressure I put on myself to make fancy meals, have a perfect lawn and a spotless house and I’m taking time for yoga, meditation, family and friends, journalling, dates with my hubby, mini road trips and just being present in each moment.

I’ll definitely be crafting and making things still…..but just by sitting back I am already making one of the biggest projects of my life. I’m making a baby… and that’s a big enough job in itself! So tough luck if I don’t have a five course meal waiting on the table at the end of the day or if a weed has bloomed in my front yard. If that happens…. I plan on picking that flower, tucking it behind my ear before enjoying a dinner of Cheerios with my hubby. So sue me :)
