Christ-mess Leftovers

Christmas is all over….. all the shopping, card writing, present wrapping, cookie baking, and gift exchanging. Ahhhhh…. back to regular life. I absolutely love Christmas and even though I’ve done nothing but eat and sit around for the past few days, I still feel like I need to relax. And by eat… I mean EAT! I think I ate a baker’s dozen of cookies yesterday alone. Aside from my diabetic overload, we have been celebrating with family and friends since the 22nd and we are still celebrating with my dad today when he gets home and my stepmom in a few days. So it’s not completely over but today is the first day I plan on staying home all day.

I always put all my Christmas decorations up on December 1st and always box them up on Boxing Day. There’s some holiday irony…haha. That’s what boxing day means to me but since this year my hubby and I went shopping on Boxing Day, the cleaning awaits me today. Right now my house looks like the leftovers of Christmas. Piles of shredded wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper, half-opened presents, cardboard boxes, boxing-day shopping bags, tools, cards, ripped envelopes and that’s just the living room. My house went from Christ-mas to Christ-mess. That is what I have started calling this time of year.

I always like to start the New Year with a clean house and right now it’s the farthest thing from. So I’m slapping on my new hot pink rubber gloves, cranking up my new Pink CD and it’s go-time.

Once the house is clean then it’s time to tackle my fridge. Speaking of the leftovers of Christmas…. what about all the leftovers from Christmas feasting?! I love leftovers because it’s an excuse not to cook, but you can only eat so many turkey sandwiches. So if you have a massive turkey or ham roast taking up room in your fridge and need some cooking inspiration, here are a few of my favourite leftover holiday recipes.

So this post is my dedication to the leftovers of Christmas. I hope all of you had a great holiday and got spoiled a little bit, or a lot. I don’t know about you, but I am stocked up on socks, bath stuff and cupcake stuff at least for another 363 days. Christmas….until we meet again….

One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don’t clean it up too quickly. – Andy Rooney
