DIY Wedding Gallery Wall

I still haven’t made any sort of wedding album and we have been married almost a year now! I blame it partially on laziness and partially because we just moved into our house this summer and between renovating and yard work, the last thing on my mind has been organizing photos. Going through hundreds and hundreds of wedding pictures to make an online album sounds sooooo tedious to me. So I decided last month that if I wasn’t going to make an album yet, the least I could do was frame some of our favourite pictures in our home. So before the snow fell I cracked the whip. I love creating gallery walls, so I had already hoarded compiled quite the collection of unique and funky frames. Once you have all your frames, all you need is a can of spray paint and you are all set. Here’s what I came up with.

I used a large piece of cardboard and set out all my frames (make sure to tape off any mirrors with tape and paper)

I bought this spray paint from Home Depot. The coverage was great and it adhered to plastic. (I just realized I took a picture of the french side but you get the point)

I gave all the frames two full coats and the black frames a third coat to make sure no original paint was peeking through.

Here’s a little tip: Before you hang your pictures, measure the area of wall that you’re working in. Then measure that area on the floor and re-arrange your frames on the floor til you are happy with how it looks. Or cut out newspaper in the size of your frames and tape and re-tape them on the wall until you are satisfied.

The letter W was our wedding cake topper that I made so I wanted to incorporate it somehow into the wall. Then I remembered that I found this piece of wood in our garage when we moved in so it was the perfect frame.

I just love how it all turned out! I am sure there will be several more gallery walls throughout my home once I’m done decorating. Gallery walls look great in every room. Check out these photo’s I’ve come across for some more inspiration!

I absolutely love the color palette below with the natural elements of wicker, wood and industrial lighting.

Have you ever created a picture wall of any sort? Send a message or an email as I  would love to hear about what you designed!!
